About Us

Our Mission:

The Brian Bourke Foundation was established to improve the lives of students by contributing to the betterment of continued education through scholarships and grants

Our Vision:

This foundation is to honor our friend Brian Bourke who devoted his life to protect and serve the public. His dedication and devotion to helping others in the community was recognized by many. We created our foundation to recognize Nease High School graduating seniors who have achieved academic and/or athletic excellence and are dedicated to continuing their education. Scholarships will be awarded to students prior to the start of their freshmen year of college and can be used for any college-related expenses. Through our vision, we will provide college scholarships to deserving young people who will continue on paths to be productive citizens. While there are no guarantees for any of us, a first rate education is the surest path to realizing the opportunities that life has to offer.

Remembering Brian "Double B" Bourke

Brian Martin Bourke, aka Double B, 49, of Ponte Vedra, Florida was born on April 13, 1972 and sadly passed away on November 9, 2021.Brian grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY where he loved being part of the neighborhood.  He was so proud to be from Jackson Heights and cherished his life long friends from there. He attended St. Joan of Arc Elementary School and McClancy High School where he played basketball, baseball and participated in the high jump on the track team for the Crusaders. After high school, Brian joined the New York Police Department.  He proudly worked with the 110 Precinct, Queens Warrant Division, Real Time Crime Center, Chief of Detectives Office, and was promoted to 2nd Grade Detective at 1 Police Plaza.  He loved being part of the NYPD family and treasured the friendships and relationships he made over the years.  After a decorated NYPD career, Brian moved his family (wife Lori and children: Connor, Dylan & Katelyn) to Ponte Vedra, Florida.  He couldn't wait to enjoy the warm weather, many rounds of golf, and a relaxing retirement with his family.  As they became involved with community events and their children's games and activities, Brian and Lori quickly became part of the Ponte Vedra community.   After two years of being retired, Brian secured employment at Nease High School as their parking lot coordinator.  This was a perfect position for him because it gave him the opportunity to welcome students and guests at the front gate every morning with his typical Double B smile.  The students and faculty instantly recognized Brian's genuine and friendly disposition, and lovingly coined him the "Nease Mayor."  Brian truly loved his neighbors & friends in the Nocatee Community.Brian was best known for his outgoing, energetic personality, always greeting people with a smile, handshake, fist bump or a pat on the back...and he always had a story that would make you laugh. He was a loyal fan of his NY teams- Rangers, Giants, Mets, Knicks, and the St. John's Redmen.   As for music, it was all about The Boss; he attended up to 40 Bruce Springsteen concerts and would always have Bruce's music playing nearby.  Brian was taken from us too soon, but it is comforting to know his life had such a positive impact on so many.  He is survived by the most important people in his life: his beautiful wife, Lori, his adoring children, Connor, Dylan, & Katelyn, his loving mother, Elizabeth, his best friend and brother Kevin, nieces, nephews, and a vast extended family who loved him dearly. Rest in Peace Double B!!!
